Documents Required for UK Student Visa – Indian Students

Core Documents Required

CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) Your unique CAS number from your UK university. This is the most important document — you cannot apply without it.

Valid Passport Your current passport must be valid for the duration of your intended stay. Some advisers recommend at least 6 months' validity beyond your planned return date.

English Language Certificate IELTS Academic, PTE Academic, TOEFL or another UKVI-accepted test at the required score. Check that your test is still within the valid period (usually 2 years from the test date).

Financial Evidence Bank statements showing you have sufficient funds. The amount must cover:

• Your tuition fees for the first year (or the total course if shorter)
• A living cost allowance per month for the study period (London and non-London amounts differ)

The funds must have been held in your account (or a parent/legal guardian's account) for the required holding period before the date of your application. Always verify the current amounts and holding period from gov.uk.

Academic Transcripts and Certificates Undergraduate degree certificate and transcripts showing qualifications that meet the entry requirements of your UK course.

Additional Documents That May Be Required

• Parental consent letter (for applicants under 18)
• ATAS clearance certificate (for specific research programmes in sensitive subjects)
• Evidence of sponsorship (if a third-party sponsor is paying tuition or maintenance)
• Tuberculosis (TB) test certificate (required for applicants from certain countries — check the current country list)
